As
mobile phone users upgrade to ever-more advanced mobile devices,
more
than 250 Million surplus mobile phones in the US are already waiting to be
recycled! Another 2 million are either trashed or stuck in drawers
every week - that's 1,000 tons of preventable toxic waste per week!
CollectiveGood and COMDEX eMobility announce an innovative program to help
visitors recycle their spare mobile phones while benefiting CARE,
the renowned international aid and development organization.
The program was honored as a finalist in Best Of Comdex Awards for
Best Services Offering, is free, easy to use, and you may help
save a life by recycling your spare mobile phone!

What happens to the phones?
- Phones Are Sold To Raise Funds

CARE sells donated phones to CollectiveGood, who recycles the phones
into reuse in the developing world. Proceeds from the sale will be used by CARE to further their aid and development work on a global scale, essentially converting idle mobile phones into food, clean water, medicine and educational programs throughout the developing world.
Donated phones
are tax-deductible as an in-kind donation
- Help People In The
Developing World
CollectiveGood refurbishes your donated phones to be sold in the
developing world, primarily Latin America. A supply of
refurbished phones makes first-time phone ownership affordable for
many citizens, helping bridge the digital divide, improving the
local economies and quality of life throughout the region
- Recycling
Mobile phones contain toxic elements like Mercury, Cadmium, Lead,
Galium Arsenide and other landfill hazards. Reuse transforms
a potentially toxic discard into a valuable commodity.
Phones that cannot be reused will be recycled for their metals and
plastics in accordance with federal and local environmental
standards
