By donating your spare mobile phone to the Adopt An Acre program, you transform it into funds used to purchase and protect 75 sq. feet of the Chile's Valdivian Temperate Forest at the heart of the Chilean Andes, one of the world’s most biologically important places.  The Nature Conservancy’s Adopt an Acre® Program is raising funds to acquire up to 8,000 acres of privately owned lands in this threatened forest. You also accomplish the following environmentally and socially responsible good deeds:

• Recycling
  Donating your phone so it can be recycled is important, because mobile phones contain toxic elements like Mercury, Cadmium, Lead, Galium Arsenide and other toxic materials that shouldn’t be thrown into a landfill.  Reuse is the best form of recycling, and this is the focus of CollectiveGood.  If your phone cannot be recycled back into reuse, it will be recycled for its metals and plastics in accordance with federal and local environmental standards
